How to do Gel Manicure at home

It is very easy to do using the UV lamp and starter kit by Sensational. Sensational is the home DIY inexpensive gel manicure brand. Here are some tips on how to do it and product review for you today. I’ve tried Sensationail gel colours in Red, French manicure and Fuse series product. Here is the outcome:

Gel manicure in one of the nail salons in Australia will usually cost you about $40 for a gel colour.

Moreover, you need to make an appointment, take your time somewhere, maybe wait and then pray for your nails will be done well and will be treated fine.

I had a few bad experiences in the nail salons in Australia and I have not found my ideal nail salon yet (they normally do much better in Europe).

A few days ago I walked into the Priceline Pharmacy and purchased the SensatioNail Starter Kit with the UV lamp.

The most long-lasting standard nail polish I’ve got so far was from Revlon Gel Envy nail. Usually, it lasts up to 5-6 days and it looks shiny and solid like a gel. But sometimes it starts chipping already in 3 days.

If you have a busy life, you probably would not have a spare hour every day to re-do your manicure. Gel manicure saves you so much time! It has to be done once in 2-3 weeks, depending on how you wear it and depending on how well it is done.

So, I’ve got myself this baby Starter Kit by SensatioNail. I’ve just tried to make my manicure using this kit and I must say, I am quite impressed. Literally anyone can do it because it is so easy!

The total cost for the kit is about the same that you will spend on one salon gel mani& pedi. With this kit, you actually can do it about 10 and more manicures. I have the starter kit with a classic Red colour (Red Rouge Ecarlate).

The lamp is quite small – so you will need to dry your thumbs separately. It is still ok and it does the job.

There is the step-by-step application instruction inside, which makes it easier to follow the steps.

The kit contains everything you need inside except the remover which you will need to buy separately.

How to remove Sensationail gel

If you do not have a removal kit, You’ll need to use some foil, cotton and a gel manicure remover (you can purchase in Priceline, online or in a professional hair&nail salon supply shop) and a metal manicure stick (just be very careful and gentle with that one).

Firstly, you ‘ll need to file the gel with any manicure nail file to make the cover thinner. Then soak the nail size piece of a cotton disk in a remover and apply it to your nail, wrap with a foil and wait for about 10 -15 minutes. After you can easily remove it with a stick. If it still feels that is not easy, repeat it again, file it a little bit more, and soak for another 10 minutes, otherwise you may damage your nail.

I’ve also got a french manicure gel including white and pink colours and also 100 of white tips. Looking forward to trying this beautiful French manicure!

Update:

So I’ve tried french manicure colour and I am a little bit disappointed using the white nail tips because they were quite dry and did not unglue from the film properly.

Then when I carefully applied the white tips and did everything as per the official tutorial, it has not been applied nicely and as a result, the next day after started to chip.

I can not complain about the red colour – everything is great and it lasts up to 3 weeks and even longer on my toenails. I am very happy with it.

In contrast, white tips where not too great and next time I would not use it and I just send it to the bin.

Also, I’ve tried the other Sensational line – Nail Fuse in dark red.

This one was terrible, the product was very thick and it came off from my nails in only two-three days. Sometimes it happens to expired gels, however, it was not even close to the expiry date. It was also hard to remove it.

I would not recommend buying Fuse Sensationail.
